The Parent Programme Facilitator is responsible for delivering play-based early learning sessions with parent–child pairs (children aged 0–3 years) in marginalised communities. The facilitator will support parents and caregivers to build positive relationships with their children through play, while strengthening their understanding of early childhood development.

The role involves facilitating interactive workshops, guiding parents in play-based activities, and supporting families to create nurturing and stimulating learning environments for young children.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Programme Facilitation

  • Facilitate play-based sessions with parents/caregivers and children aged 0–3 years.
  • Demonstrate and guide developmentally appropriate play activities that promote early learning and bonding.
  • Support parents to actively participate in play and learning with their children.
  • Facilitate group workshops that share practical information about child development, early learning, and responsive caregiving.

Programme Implementation

  • Deliver sessions according to approved lesson plans and programme guidelines.
  • Prepare learning materials and ensure resources are available for each session.
  • Ensure sessions are engaging, inclusive, and culturally appropriate.

Community Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and community members.
  • Encourage consistent attendance and participation of families in the programme.
  • Support outreach and engagement activities within the community.

Monitoring and Administration

  • Maintain attendance registers and programme records.
  • Provide feedback on programme progress and challenges to the Programme Coordinator.
  • Assist with basic monitoring activities as required.

Safeguarding and Professional Conduct

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
  • Uphold organisational policies relating to child protection and ethical conduct.
  • Represent the organisation professionally within the community.

Minimum Requirements

  • Level 4 equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with young children (0–5 years) and/or parents or caregivers.
  • Experience facilitating group activities or community programmes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in the local language(s) of the community.
  • Passion for supporting families and early childhood development.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of play-based learning and early childhood development.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate parents and caregivers.
  • Confidence working in community-based settings.
  • Organisational and record-keeping skills.
